Mission-driven leader wanted to grow local philanthropy in Austin.
The Austin Area Foundation (AAF) is seeking a relationship-focused part-time Executive Director to lead fundraising, donor engagement, community partnerships, and day-to-day operations in close collaboration with the Board of Directors.
Position: Executive Director (Part-Time)
Location: Austin, Minnesota (local presence and community engagement expected)
Hours: Approximately 25-30 hours per week (flexible; may vary seasonally)
Status: Part-time, exempt
Compensation: $50,000 – $60,000 (starting salary range; depending on qualifications)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead annual fundraising strategy, donor outreach, and stewardship
  • Prepare fundraising materials, donor communications, and progress reporting
  • Build relationships with donors, community partners, and key stakeholders
  • Support planned giving and long-term donor development efforts
  • Signature Event Leadership – For the Love of Austin (FTLOA): Provide leadership for AAF’s signature fundraising event, including planning, sponsorship development, donor engagement, vendor coordination, volunteer coordination, and post-event follow-up and reporting
  • Oversee daily operations and administrative systems
  • Supervise part-time administrative staff and coordinate vendor relationships
  • Ensure gift processing, donor records, and communications are handled accurately and professionally
  • Work closely with the Board Chair and Board committees to advance AAF goals
  • Support Board meeting preparation, reporting, and strategic planning
  • Ensure organizational compliance and high standards of stewardship
Desired Qualifications:
  • Fundraising and donor relationship experience (nonprofit/philanthropy preferred)
  • Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a Board
  • Comfort managing multiple priorities and seasonal workload fluctuations
  • Professional judgment, discretion, and commitment to confidentiality
