FACILITY MAINTENANCE COORDINATOR - WESTMINSTER PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

The Facility Maintenance Coordinator will ensure that the maintenance and operation of all heating, cooling, electrical, and plumbing systems are carried out to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for staff and church members. Additionally, this position will ensure that the grounds are maintained so that the exterior surroundings are neat and attractive, and the interior facilities and equipment are functional and well maintained for the use of our staff, our volunteers and our congregation.
REPORTS TO: Senior Pastor/Head of Staff, Office Administrator, and Facility & Grounds Committee
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPECTATIONS:
• Appropriate licensure (currently 2A Engineer’s License to operate pour 60 H.P. boiler).
• Mechanical aptitude and competence to fulfill job requirements.
• Willingness to work within a team context.
• Ability to work positively with our congregation in a ministry environment.
• Proactively seek to improve our facility to ensure a wonderful experience for our congregation and our community.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Keeps buildings and grounds in a safe and attractive condition.

A. Works with our contracted lawn services, to maintain lawn mowing, tree trimming, shrub trimming, leaf raking, (or mulching), fertilizing and weed control of our property.
B. Works with our contracted snow removal services to ensure the prompt removal of snow and ice and to ensure the safety of our congregation and our property.
2. Regulates heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures comfortable for the season and to ensure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity.
3. This position is responsible for the upkeep and the monitoring of the Church Boiler while making sure that we are in compliance with all required maintenance, usage guidelines, and licensing requirements. Will create and oversee a Boiler Checking Schedule to ensure that the boiler is checked daily during its usage in the winter months. **When checking the boiler on non-working days, this position will be compensated for 1 hour of work at their normal hourly rate.**
4. In cooperation with the Custodial Staff, will work to maintain a clean and well cared for property.
5. Reports immediately any damage of church property or equipment in need of repair to the Pastoral Staff or Office Administrator. Makes repairs whenever such repair is within their capability. Coordinates and schedules any and all outside repair work that is needed for our property or equipment.
6. Maintains on a regular schedule all motors, mechanical equipment, and filters which require scheduled maintenance.
7. Is responsible for the upkeep of the church van, including scheduled maintenance, cleaning and fueling.
8. Keeps an inventory of supplies and equipment on hand to accomplish required maintenance, and orders replacement supplies through our Office Administrator as needed.
9. Moves furniture and/or equipment as required for various activities or as directed by the Pastoral or Office Staff.
10. Coordinates with Pastoral and Custodial Staff on providing facility coverage for weddings and funerals. This work is compensated for by the family or funeral homes.
11. Complies with all local ordinances and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and hazardous waste.
12. Checks throughout the building frequently for leaks (radiators, walls, roof). Check all windows and doors to make sure they are operating correctly.
13. Insures all lighting works properly. Will replace any light bulbs that have burned out and will re-order bulbs when necessary.
14. Makes recommendations to head of staff pertaining to operation of church facility.

Terms of employment are defined in Personnel Policies adopted by Session.

Salaries:
Salary for the position of the Facility Maintenance Coordinator will be $ 18-20.00 per hour. This is a 12-month, part-time position paid monthly. Salary established by the Session in consultation with the Head of Staff.

Length of Workweek:
The hours and workdays for the position are negotiable but come with the expectation of 7-10 hours a week with 3 days worked per week determined by the Pastoral Staff and Office Administrator.

Vacation Days:
To be negotiated with Pastor and Personnel/Finance Committee. For part-time employees, our church holidays are not compensated.
