Job Description
Advocate Duties/ Office Manager Duties
Not limited to, but includes: Greeting clients and the public cheerfully, respectful, with kindness, patience, and empathy. Work with individuals with physical disabilities. Assist clients in applying for Social Security Disability, medical and financial assistance, housing assistance and other federal, state and county programs and services. Also, organize and host a peer activity group once per month.
Answer phones and questions or transfer to appropriate personnel, take messages, maintain files, make copies, send faxes and maintain appropriate office environment. This position includes managing the Equipment Lending Program, including maintaining records, cleaning incoming donated items, and organizing equipment storage room to be a safe and clean environment.
 
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have experience working in a Human Service field or working with individuals with disabilities. Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills and be self-directed, empathetic, patient, non-judgmental, well organized and efficient. Has the ability to use the computer for maintaining client files and access federal, state, and county websites. Grant writing experience will be required. Confidentiality is a must. Has the ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally and must have the ability to lift and clean incoming and donated items. Must be able to plan, purchase supplies, and teach/hold an appropriate craft or group activity.
 
Compensation – Starting wage of $13/hr/32 hrs per week, Monday – Thursday 8 – 4 and Friday 8 – 12. There will be periodic reviews with possible increases.
